Columbus County Courthouse

Residents of Columbus County can clearly see what the look of the new courthouse.

Plans of the building were on display during the last Columbus County Commissioners meeting August 2, 2011. The courthouse is designed to have three floors. According to the commissioners statements there is going to be a parking problem. The parking problem has not been worked out yet, "but they are working on it."

The building construction  is scheduled for spring of 2012.  The old courthouse is also on the calendar for reconstruction after the new one is finished.

There is a major question that should concern us all. It appears that there is not enough room for the new courts to conduct their daily affairs. There are many ways to expand on space without raising the cost. We should not allow cramped quarters when we see the problem even before it is built.
