UPDATE:
Michael Brown, a former Columbus
County elementary school counselor has at last been indicted by a
federal grand jury. Brown is now facing a second degree murder
charge for the allegedly shooting and killing Larry Towns. Larry Towns
had entered the building at Five Points unarmed at what was called by
Brown a "Christian Counseling
Center".at first investigators required to see Brown's records. Brown
was somehow allegedly forewarned of the investigation that was first to
take place on Friday, but the investigation was rescheduled for Monday.
Brown's
"Christian Counseling
Center" burned Sunday night, before any of his records were examined.on
Monday. On August eighth, 2011 the U.S. Attorney's Office
announced that a criminal
indictment against Brown had been handed down, charging him with twenty
counts
of wire fraud, for aggravated identity theft, for arson and
making false statements.
...........................................................................................................These charges come from Brown's actions, while he was
offering free a supervised tutoring services, snacks and treats ,
transportation services, activities and games to lure the the children
of lower income
people of Columbus County into his alleged fraudulent trap. To
participate in his
alleged scheme, the children's parents had to present their Medicaid
card to be copied, which gave Brown a free pass to charge services that
were never rendered to many members of the community. What a web that can be weaved when one tries to lie and deceive.We are listening carefully for the outcome of this case.
Private Counselor and Teacher At Chadbourn Elementary School Arrested for Second-Degree Murder Michael Shawn Brown, 45, a private counselor and teacher at Chadbourn Elementary School was arrested for the alledged second-degree murder of Larry James Towns. This murder occured at Brown's counseling offices at Five Points, west of Chadbourn. Columbus Couny Detective Sgt. Nealey report stated that Brown was arrested at the suspect's home on Princess Ann Road, a location close to Williamson's Crossroads Community. Larry Towns entered into Michael Brown's business location and was shot with a hand gun. He received several shots to his chest just minutes before 4 p.m. on Tuesday. It was reported that Michael Brown claimed that Larry Towns entered unannounced, therefore Brown was in fear for his life when he saw the intruder and shot him. Try to see this in the eyes of your understanding. I have and it goes like this. My business is open . A man enters and I immediately shoot him. Did I go and find a pistol to shoot him or was I just standing with a pistol in my hand? Is there a concealed weapon permit? There is much that seems not right with Michael Shawn Brown's statement and the only witness is dead. It has been determined that Larry James Towns was not armed. ? Let's watch how justice prevails.The A.T.F is looking into a fire at the counseling center last month as a possible arson. Our magistrate set Brown's bond at $50,000. UPDATE June 17 Concerning Michael Shawn Brown Michael Shawn Brown's second degree murder charge has been elevated to first degree murder. New charges for medical fraud and arson for burning of his counseling offices containing aledged fradulent medical billing. Brown's office at Five Points, located just west of Chadbourn NC. was completely destroyed. Michael Shawn Brown has been indicted on 16 counts of fraudulant billing for his counseling service for Columbus County children and the burning of his small offices one day before the SBI was to serve a search warrant. Brown did he have foreknowledge of the SBI coming. The authorities were seeking answers about several alledged fraud. There is much to come to light here. |
