Whiteville City Policy Columbus County Sheriffs Dept. This Morning,  Friday 19, 2011, just after sun rise shots rang out in the parking lot of Columbus Regional Health Care System. Elijah Jones  walked into the parking lot on the visitors side and  shot his estranged wife Joan Everette, and her new boyfriend Bobby Ray Shipman.  Mrs. Everett was killed at the scene and the boyfriend Bobby Ray Shipman was carried hurriedly to the hospital. Any time there is a shooting the hospital goes through a complete lock down to safeguard all  there in.  Jones after shooting the couple made his way to Columbus County Court House and turned himself in. .
